KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — You’ve heard us report about big-name companies like Toyota and Boom Supersonic building facilities in the Piedmont Triad, but those are not the only well-known businesses with a footprint in our state.
Manufacturing company John Deere chose Kernersville to build a facility that sits off West Mountain Street.
A company spokesperson shared with town alderman Bill Apple and his colleagues they plan to build upon their success in the town by building another factory next to it solely to build excavators.
“Some people call them front-end loaders … These are more the excavation-type machines, and that’s what’s manufactured here,” Apple said.
According to John Deere, 50% of the nation’s small excavator industry is located in the Southern U.S.
The Kernersville plant offers close proximity to key suppliers.
